Do Dallas Like Debbie

We like to think we’ve lived a pretty fun life so far.

One full of adventures, experiences and more laughter than should be allowed by law.

We’ve also seen more than our fair share of, ahem, pornographic movies in our role covering only the highest cultural offerings on Planet Earth.

Yet, somehow, we’ve never seen the iconic 1978 classic, Debbie Does Dallas.

Probably because we knew it had lots of knockers and noo-noos are we’re more tallywacker aficionados ourselves.

But we knew well the legend of Debbie Does Dallas and its story of the Beavers cheerleaders doing “whatever it takes” to raise money to send Debbie to Dallas to become a member of a particularly famous NFL cheerleading squad.

Naturally, when we found out Theatre Three was staging the musical version, we jumped at the chance to see it—then did the splits after cartwheeling off the top of a human pyramid.

We’re so glad we did, too. We saw the final preview performance in the intimate, downstairs Theatre Too black box space this past Friday night. We hardly stopped laughing during the entire 80-minute, intermission-less show. Yay! (We adore no-intermission productions).

Adapted by Erica Schmidt with music by Andrew Sherman and concept by Susan L. Schwartz, Debbie Does Dallas: The Musical has been titillating audiences since its off-Broadway debut in 2002.

The Theatre Three production, directed by James Chandler, makes the most of the delightfully silly, innuendo-laden script thanks to a wonderfully talented cast (pictured above) that also includes some hot, hunky football players.

One particularly drunk gay in the audience even proclaimed, “I like the one with the furry belly!” at a volume that hopefully made the furry-bellied actor proud of his workout routine.

The local production of Debbie Does Dallas: The Musical runs through February 23. That means you have plenty of time to find out what good girls gone sex-crazed do with bananas, what happens when two football bros shower together and how many orgies and sex acts it takes to get one cheerleader on the road to Dallas.

If only all pornos were set to music, the world would be a better place.

Pro Tip: Grab dinner next door at Crushcraft Thai Eats before the show!
