If we’re going to the trouble to get dressed up, the destination better be worthy of our fashion efforts.
Well, it would be an understatement to say that EVELYN in the Dallas Design District impresses with its impeccable design and justifies getting us out of our track pants and sneakers. The food rises to the occasion, too.
The show-stopping interiors change between each of the restaurant’s three key spaces: the Piano Room, the energetic Ruby Room bar (where we dined on our visit) and Room Seven, a see-and-be-seen lounge spectacle that bustles on weekend late nights with DJs, dancing and a disco ball unlike any you’ve ever seen.
And yes, there is a dress code. We found some people’s choices and the staff’s fashion policing to be questionable, but we wore jackets just in case. To be fair, it was a Tuesday night, so the dress code likely comes into play more on the weekends to fulfill the Old Hollywood glam agenda.

We started our evening with martini service for two, known as The Duo, which allows you to choose from a section of martinis and get both for $36.
We chose The Dirty because, well, we’re filthy individuals. And if the bleu-cheesed stuffed olive fits…
We sipped our cocktails while trying not to eat every last crumb of our freshly baked Parker House rolls, but managed to resist long enough to enjoy an incredible crab and avocado stack.
Because we were in classic steakhouse mode, we moved on to a BLT wedge salad, which didn’t disappoint.
By the time our entrées hit the table, we were getting full but we powered through. Perfectly prepared Chilean sea bass and a Texas Wagyu strip sealed the fate of our waistbands, along with roasted asparagus and whipped, loaded potatoes.
We sent back the roasted cauliflower because it was way too salty and even though they offered to fix it, we knew we’d never be able to enjoy it. However, it had all the elements for a perfect side, so next time!
Despite our cries of overindulgence, we couldn’t resist tasting the sticky toffee cake and Chocolate Decadence, both of which came home for late night snacks the next few nights.
If you’ve got a special occasion coming up or simply want to impress a date or friends with a new restaurant that everyone’s talking about, book a table at EVELYN.
You’re in for a true feast of the senses.
