As much as we love Christmas, we’re equally eager for it to be over by the end of the day on December 25.
So, we always try to go see whatever movie premieres on Christmas Day that’ll snap us out of holiday mode and put all the sugarplums, reindeer and Mariah songs behind us until next year.
This year, that movie is Anaconda.
It’s one hilariously meta sequel/reboot/reimagining of the 1997 action-horror hit starring Jennifer Lopez, Ice Cube and a delightfully terrible Jon Voight.
Where the 1997 version was (perhaps) unintentionally hilarious, the new version starring Paul Rudd and Jack Black deliberately goes for the laughs. The longtime friends set out to remake the “classic” Anaconda on location in the Amazon on a shoestring budget and the results are often laugh-out-loud outrageous.
We saw a sneak peek last week and the movie’s a blast.
Sadly, one of the movie’s funniest segments is completely ruined in some of the trailers and posters, so the less you watch ahead of time, the better.
However, we’ve found a trailer that doesn’t spoil this moment, so feel free to click then get your tickets for a Christmas evening show or sometime this coming weekend.
We promise it’ll get you in the mood to say goodbye to the holiday season.
And possibly ready to plan an exotic vacation once the tree’s back in the box or out on the curb.
