SPCA Pet of the Week: Simon Is the Underbite Icon With a Soft Spot for the Right Person

Meet Simon, a one-year-old, 61-pound charmer with floppy ears, soulful eyes and an underbite so good it deserves a moment of appreciation. Add in his warm light brown coat and expressive face, and you’ve got a dog who turns heads without trying too hard. Simon has presence. The kind you notice.

Simon approaches the world thoughtfully. He likes a proper introduction and a little time to take things in. A sniff, a pause and a quiet read of the room. Once he decides you’re his kind of human, everything softens. He leans in, relaxes and settles close like he has been waiting for you specifically.

He is polite, well-behaved and knows how to sit like a true gentleman, especially when treats are involved. Simon takes snack time seriously and treats it like a job he genuinely enjoys. Calm company is his comfort zone. Quiet moments are where he shines. He wants to be near people who make him feel safe and seen.

That gentle nature comes with a playful edge. Simon’s permanent underbite gives him a mischievous grin that does a lot of the talking. He knows how to get a laugh without being loud about it. One look usually does the trick. A second look tends to seal the deal.

Simon is a slow burn in the best way. He opens up with patience and rewards it with loyalty and devotion. His affection is steady, sincere and deeply felt. He is looking for a home that understands the best relationships are built, not rushed.

Simon is one of the SPCA of Texas Longtime Lovables, which means he has been waiting more than 60 days so his adoption fee is free. He is neutered, microchipped and up to date on vaccinations. You can meet him any day from noon to 6 p.m. at the SPCA of Texas Dallas Animal Care Center, 2400 Lone Star Drive, 75212.

Give Simon a little time, and he will give you his whole heart. The underbite is just his calling card.
