Meet Zula, a six-year-old, 69-pound beauty with a shimmering silver coat, floppy ears and eyes that seem permanently delighted to see you. She has that rare combination of elegance and goofiness, the kind that makes people smile before she even makes it across the room.
Zula is pure sunshine. She’s friendly, affectionate and fully committed to the idea that love should be shared generously. Pets are welcomed. Snuggles are encouraged. If you lean in for a hug, she is already there. She has a happy wiggle and a bright smile that can shift the mood of a whole house in seconds.
And she is not just charming at home. During her Borrow a Buddy outing, Zula showed off her real-world manners. She greeted adults and other dogs appropriately, walked beautifully on leash and took treats gently, because she is, in fact, a lady. She knows how to behave, and she does it well.
Zula is also what the SPCA of Texas calls a Senior Sweetheart, meaning she is over six years old and her adoption fee is zero. Yes, free. She just needs someone to choose her.
There is one important detail. Zula is currently being treated for heartworms, so she needs a calm foster or adoptive home while she heals. Doctor’s orders are simple. Leash walks only. No running or rough play. Plenty of rest. She will also need periodic vet visits at the SPCA of Texas, and her treatment is fully covered.
In other words, Zula is requesting couch time, gentle strolls, snacks and someone to adore. It is a very reasonable list.
If you have been wanting a dog who will love you wholeheartedly, make you laugh and happily settle into a slower rhythm by your side, Zula is your girl.
You can meet her any day between noon and 6 p.m. at the SPCA of Texas Dallas Animal Care Center, 2400 Lone Star Drive, 75212. She is spayed, microchipped and up to date on vaccinations.
Prepare yourself. The silver shadow phase of your life could start very soon.
