It’s time to pull your tuxedo out of the closet and make sure it still fits, because there’s less than a month until the 2014 Black Tie Dinner.
And don’t worry if you don’t already have a ticket because, great news, there are still a limited number of tickets available for one of our favorite LGBT events of the year.
This year’s program features several celebrated guests and honorees.
The evening kicks off with what’s certain to be a fabulous opening act by Alex Newell, a.k.a. “Unique,” our favorite character on Glee. Comedienne Dana Goldberg, this year’s emcee and auctioneer, will keep things rolling as only she can.
WFAA’s Dale Hansen is being recognized as a straight ally after his unexpected support of gay athletes in a commentary on live television. Jason Collins, openly gay NBA star, will also make an appearance.
The 2014 Kuchling Humanitarian Award recipient is Mike Anglin, who will accept the honor for his tireless work for the North Texas LGBT community.
David Boies and Ted Olson, two formerly opposing attorneys who joined forces to fight California’s ban on same-sex marriage all the way to the Supreme Court, will be honored with the Elizabeth Birch Equality Award.
And openly gay country music star Steve Grand will perform.
Of course, there’s plenty to do that night besides the main event, including a silent auction reception beforehand and a lavish after party to keep the celebration going strong.
Gotta get the most mileage out of that tux as possible, right?
