$130 million.
That would pay for a lifetime’s worth of Saved by the Bell episodes.
But these days, that’s what it takes to create a short-but-epic Netflix series (or at least that’s what the budget rumors indicate).
The Crown debuts tomorrow on the streaming service and the results provide a huge argument that it’s money well-spent.
Most of us have only known Queen Elizabeth II as a gray-haired granny with a penchant for Corgis, so it’s jolly good fun to delve into her life as a young royal. Starring Claire Foy in the lead and John Lithgow as Winston Churchill, the 10-episode first season chronicles the queen’s life from her coronation through 1956.
Which leaves us at least another 60 years of of drama.
Or about $1.95 billion worth of episodes.
