Travel Tuesday: The Tryst, The Tryst, Is On Our List

A trip to Puerto Vallarta isn’t really a trip to Puerto Vallarta without a sexy tryst or two.

Now, we can absolutely guarantee one—perhaps the sexiest ever.

It was just announced that booking has opened for The Tryst Puerto Vallarta, created by Tristan Schukraft, for dates beginning September 15, 2024.

We were just in PV this past weekend, staying right next door at a favorite adults-only, gay-friendly boutique property of ours, Villa Mercedes Petit Hotel. We peeked into the lobby to see how The Tryst was coming along because we’d been anticipating this announcement for a few months now.

We stayed at the same property years ago when it operated as a different gay boutique hotel in the Zona Romántica neighborhood. First and foremost, the location one short block from the beach truly can’t be beat.

But now with Schukraft at the helm, this will be the gay property to book in Puerto Vallarta for the foreseeable future.

We visited the Puerto Rico location last fall during a beach party for the IGLTA convention and even pre-renovation, it was wildly fun and had a super cool vibe.

When this new flagship location in Puerto Vallarta welcomes its first LGBTQ guests on September 15, it’s going to be yet another rainbow-colored feather in the cap of the Mexican beach city as a top global destination for the queer community.

With only 55 luxuriously appointed rooms, it’s intimate enough to never feel too crowded like the all-inclusive resorts nearby, bursting at the seams with families and their screaming children. Yet it’s big enough that meeting fellow gay travelers will be a breeze.

Featuring a minimal and modernist approach to Mexican architecture and design, led by Estudio Esterlina, which worked on Four Seasons Tamarindo, the standards will certainly be raised for gay hotels. Plus, with rooms starting at only $199 per night, it won’t break the bank.

A rooftop pool and bar (hello, nightly sunsets!), an on-site gourmet restaurant, and certain accommodations featuring outdoor showers and other unique amenities all combine for something we’re truly excited to experience first-hand.

We just need to recover from our hangover from this past weekend’s trip to Puerto Vallarta first.
