Travel Tuesday: Whisk(ey) Yourself Away To Queer Kentucky

We just got our first taste of Kentucky two weeks ago—and it was strong and boozy!

Perhaps it’s because we stuck close to the Kentucky Bourbon Trail, which this October will be a whole lot gayer than anyone ever dreamed.

For the first time ever, nonprofit Queer Kentucky presents Bourbon & Belonging: Kentucky’s Queer Bourbon Week.

From October 2-6, the Bluegrass State welcomes visitors to events across eight different cities and regions. Bourbon and food tours, tastings, garden parties, drag brunches, pool parties, storytelling events and mixology classes round out the many opportunities to eat, drink bourbon and be merry, Mary.

Rent a car and bounce from city to city over the five-day celebration, or focus on a specific region. The four main hubs for the event include Louisville, Lexington, Northern Kentucky, and “Bardstown & More.” Visit the Bourbon & Belonging events page and scroll down to see the events in each of those four regions.

We absolutely loved our late-July vacation in Northern Kentucky, just across the river from Cincinnati, Ohio where we split our time. We’re anxious to return to help christen this queer bourbon event (or to the region in general at some point soon).

However, if they don’t want to run out of whisky and ensure a second Bourbon & Belonging in 2025, they maybe shouldn’t invite us.

Brown spirits make us extra thirsty.

Much like the Olympic men’s swim teams.
