As the world continues to get scarier for queer people, we love to promote supportive businesses and resources for the LGBTQ community.
Enter World Rainbow Hotels, a global platform featuring more than 2,000 LGBTQ+ owned and/or welcoming hotel properties in 120 destinations and growing.
It’s an LGBTQ+ hotel consortia that’s part of the Global Distribution System (GDS), an important tool for more than 24,000 travel agencies across the world.
World Rainbow Hotels has been around for 16 years, but it’s the first we are hearing about it, so we figure we can’t be alone in appreciating this new knowledge.

Best of all, you can use the website to search hotels and resorts at top global destinations and book direct. Of course, travel agents can really come in handy for planning more complex vacations.
According to the press release we received, hotels must meet more than 150 key metrics to join the consortia, which fall into five key areas: location, characteristics, knowledge of the local LGBTQ+ scene, involvement with the LGBTQ+ community, and policies for staff – including compliance with no-discrimination policies.
That gives us tremendous peace of mind, no matter where our vacations take us. Because these days, even going to a blue city in the United States, we don’t always know what we’re getting into.
And we want our money going to people who actually care about our wellbeing and internationally beloved fabulousness.
