Herbs On Crack

You know, it really doesn’t take much to be a Food Network star. Just look at the Barefoot Contessa. She’s got a beautiful home in the Hamptons, a husband who’s never home and gays dropping by every damn episode. How hard could it be?

Yet besides the obvious, there’s one thing we truly envy: Ina Garten’s garden. That bitch has herbs as tall as her ying-yang and as far as the eye can see. Want to make a mojito? Run out and snip off some mint. Huge bunches of it, too, so you can gleefully throw away the excess and toss your head back with maniacal laughter. (Didn’t her mother ever tell her there are children in Africa without fresh tarragon in their béarnaise sauce?)

Alas, we don’t have the knack for keeping our gardens in tip-top shape, and it’s so cruel to the environment to hop in our Escalades and head to the grocer every time we need a sprig of parsley to garnish our plate of Hot Pockets and Funyuns.

Enter Egglings Crack ‘N’ Grow miniature gardens to save the day.

Each super-cute porcelain egg comes filled with seeds. Simply crack the egg with a spoon, then water and put in a warm spot with plenty of sunshine. In just about a week, you’ll have yourself a real, live plant ready to destroy and devour. The herbs keep growing for up to 3 months inside the egg or you can transfer to a larger pot and start your own farmer’s daughter’s market.

Then just wait for the Food Network to come a-begging.
