We Like BOYHs

Though not widely known, cultural archaeologists have discovered that a renowned queen of the gays once said, “Music brings the people together.”

Bring Out Your Happy seems to agree. The Miami-based fashion label sells more than just cute graphic-design tees and underwear; they sell a musical experience.

When a customer buys a shirt emblazoned with an original BOYH character, they get not only the tee, but a CD featuring music from a band that “sponsors” the particular character.

To complete the interactive fashion experience, the inside of each shirt gives a story of the character, with silly recommendations for how to wear the tee.

Our favorite in the vast array of adorable characters is naturally the Domestic Partners t-shirt. Featuring both gay and lesbian versions, this BOYH tee depicts two skinny-ass lions showing their love, and includes a lounge/chill-out soundtrack by Tamara Rhodes.

But even with such blatant love for our community, we know there may be those that are iffy. Some of us are simply tired of shirts emblazoned with generic phrases.

That’s the beauty of the BOYH brand – only edgy, graphic-designed characters grace the outside, while cookie-cutter, Urban Outfitter-ish slogans remain on the inside.

In fact, we noticed it was quite the conversation starter after we lifted our shirt at a recent party to let a hot wallflower read the goods.

With his face mere inches from our torso, we brought out our “happy,” and instantly understood the reasoning behind the label’s name.
