We get so many CDs to review, we could open our very own music store. We’d call it Tower of People We’ve Never Heard of Records. And by “store” we’d mean standing on a street corner with the CDs hanging inside our long overcoat. “Hey, little girl. Want some Selena Gomez?”

Well, sometimes practicality rules and instead of making our fortune in illegal CDs, many of them simply end up in the shredder. (BTW, there’s nothing cooler than shredding a CD. It makes us feel so powerful and destructive. Like Queen Kong.)

But something made us open up Travelling Like The Light, the debut full-length album from V.V. Brown. We loaded it onto our iPod and jumped on an elliptical machine at the gym. 600 calories later, we were wondering what had possessed us to pedal so fast in 30 minutes.

Seriously, this is one of the greatest workout mixes ever, and it’s all on one CD. (Do you think we could become famous peddling the “V.V. Brown Diet” like Jared at Subway?)

But it’s not just for our workouts. We listen to it at least twice a day (FYI, iPods don’t like the steamroom) and have played it for everyone who doesn’t pepper-spray us when we stop them on the streets.

The 25-year-old Brown is a musical chameleon, switching styles from song to song with ease. The album is high-energy without being over-produced and every track is immediately catchy. We found ourselves singing along the first time we heard each song (which really annoys the people at Equinox for some reason).

This is normally where we’d tell you our favorite tracks, but with every listen, we find ourselves liking another one more than the last.

That said, there are some we can’t get out of our heads, no matter how hard we try. “Shark in the Water” is one, but it’s “L.O.V.E.” that kept us up until 3:00 a.m. the other night because we simply kept singing it over. And over. And over.

And what better compliment can we give an artist than, “Thanks. Your CD was so good it made us insane.”
