Decisions, decisions.
Usually a flip-flop (and we’re not talking Havanas) is in order when we can’t make up our Mary Minds. But when it comes to often cost-prohibitive organic produce, we usually decide with our wallet Jack Spade pocketbook.
Like the annual business-card sized seafood report detailing which fish to stay away from at what times (though you don’t have to give us a guide to tell us which fish to avoid), artist Heidi Kenney’s downloadable “Dirty Dozen Cheat Sheet” is the newest grocery shopping must-have.
The Dirty Dozen in this case isn’t referring to the after hours we hosted last weekend, but instead the fruits and vegetables you should always buy organic. If directions saying as much on the wallet-sized sheet weren’t enough to give that away, the tears streaming down the caricatured faces of veggies and fruits should do the trick better than our guests did at our aforementioned raucous party.
The other side of the double-sided must-have (we’ll leave this one well alone) includes an illustrated listing of the produce items that are safe non-organic purchases, as they typically contain lower amounts of pesticides.
If only Kenney’s cheat sheet told us which fruit at the bars we should avoid, she would’ve saved us five years and our first mortgage.
