Donut Ask, Donut Tell

If you’re gonna eat carbs, you might as well go all the way. Why eat a plain donut when you can get one topped with bacon, bananas, honey and peanut butter? Or chocolate, caramel, peanut butter, Peanut Butter Cap’n Crunch and pretzels?

These are so sinfully delicious and filled with sugary goodness, James St. Peter, the owner of Hypnotic Donuts, should have his own reality show: Carb Hoarders. Because he just can’t help himself.

(Thankfully, we doubt any dead cats will ever turn up on a fritter.)

This tiny East Dallas shop has barely been open two weeks and the lines are already out the door during peak weekend hours. It’s partly because the donuts are top-notch, but also because of the curiosity factor.

After all, anything is possible as a topping. Fresh jalapeños? Check.  M&M’s, crushed Pop Tarts, chile con queso? Hell yeah.

The concept is genius. We found ourselves ordering crazy donuts just to get a photo and show our friends. When’s the last time you took a pic of a bagel to post on Facebook?

Once their fryer is fixed, there are tons of chicken biscuits to choose from and we can’t wait to try them.

But until then, we’ll be happy putting our tongue in one hole after another. Story of our lives.
