If you want one of those dainty queens who eats once every third Thursday and supplements his monthly caloric intake with the occasional Tic-Tac and vodka tonic, keep looking. We’re not that type of queen.
We love to eat. We love to drink. We love to be big ol’ Marys.
That’s why one of our favorite events of the year is Savor Dallas, which has a new venue at the spectacular new Irving Convention Center at Las Colinas.
So we’re telling you in advance so you can best plan for the International Grand Tasting, the main Saturday night event. With more than 60 participating chef-driven restaurants, hundreds of wines, spirits and beers, you’re going to not only want expandable waistband pants, but also a place to rest your head that’s just a short (cheap) cab ride away.
There are a few official hotel picks offering special Savor Dallas rates, but we say turn this into an eating-and-drinking staycation extravaganza and luxuriate pre- and post-binge at the Four Seasons Resort & Club, the only AAA Five-Diamond resort in Texas. The special $175/night rate gets you a superior room and a wonderful way to impress your boyfriend or your ex-boyfriend-to-be.
Several events make up the Savor Dallas weekend, but the International Grand Tasting is definitely the one to choose. Come hungry, come thirsty and prepare to commit at least two of the seven deadly sins, and possibly break a commandment or two, as well.
