Start off this patriotic weekend with a bang.
(You do know that Memorial Day isn’t just about blacking out at your friends’ pools, right?)
Tonight, the Turtle Creek Chorale, America’s favorite non-turtle singing group, is joined by America’s favorite military singers, the United States Army Chorus. Along with these two legendary choral powerhouses, the Lone Star Wind Orchestra will be on hand to accompany the majestic sounds of men united in song.
It’s the perfect chance to break out those patriotic capri pants, light a sparkler and place your right hand over your heart during every song. Because everything about the show is all-American (except perhaps those capri pants, which were probably made in China).
The first half of the concert features popular American composers (like Gershwin) and music from Broadway, jazz standards, traditional and pop music. The second half celebrates American folk songs and showcases American patriotic music classics (think God Bless America).
The grand finale commences with a full fireworks and laser light show, synchronized killer whales and a t-shirt cannon shooting apple pies into the audience. Or maybe it’ll be an equally rousing “service medley” with anthems sung by members of each branch of the military. (That last part sounds more accurate. Our press release was missing the second page, so we just kind of winged it.)
There’s never been a better time to be a proud Gay American. With a soundtrack to match.
