Catty Fish

usa-01_28_13

Mirror, mirror, on the wall, who’s the fishiest of them all?

fish. A drag queen who looks like a real woman.

We’re not sure if we just haven’t been paying attention to previous episodes, but the term fish pops up a lot in the fifth season premiere of RuPaul’s Drag Race. We had a good guess regarding the definition, but now we’re officially enlightened.

But there’s so much more to this new season than simple drag education for the masses. This group of queens could likely be the fiercest yet.

There’s a pair of bitter enemies (Alyssa Edwards and Coco Montrese, who find out live on camera that they’re on the show together after two years of not talking to one another.

Meanwhile, Alaska is trying to break out of the shadow of her boyfriend, Sharon Needles, who previously won the title of Next Drag Superstar.

And then there’s Penny Tration, the only contestant brought onto the show by an online popularity vote. She also gets our vote for best drag name of the season.

The judges’ panel continues to draw big names (Chaz Bono, La Toya Jackson, Kristen Johnston, Leslie Jordan, Clinton Kelly) and if the rest of the season’s challenges are as hilarious and extreme as the outrageous underwater photo shoot in Episode One, we’re in for a fantastic race, indeed.

With plenty of seafood.

RuPaul’s Drag Race Season 5
Premieres tonight at 9:00 p.m., 8:00 p.m. Central on Logo
