It seems that our list of guilty pleasures have now exceeded that of our regular ones. But that’s OK. We’re not ashamed one bit (or we wouldn’t constantly tell you about them).
High up on that ever-growing rundown is anything starring Kirstie Alley (even the Look Who’s Talking movies). Not sure what it is about her, but we just love her to pieces. Even when she gets all crazy Scientology-y on us.
Tonight, we welcome her back to the small screen in her new self-titled show on TV Land, home to two of our other favorite old-school sitcoms, Hot in Cleveland and Happily Divorced.
In Kirstie, she portrays Maddie, a Tony Award-winning Broadway diva who meets the son she gave up for adoption 26 years earlier. Encouraged by her assistant (Rhea Perlman) and her eccentric chauffeur (Michael Richards), she decides to give motherhood a chance and bond with the schlubby young adult.
Admittedly, we didn’t love the first episode we watched, but we’re hoping it finds its stride quickly. We didn’t love Hot in Cleveland right away, either, but now it’s one of our must-watch shows thanks to the way the cast has bonded while delivering some of the the gay-ready one-liners on television.
If Kirstie doesn’t improve, we won’t be devastated. That just opens up another spot on our guilty pleasure list.
Maybe we’ll check out one of these gay “pornos” we’ve heard so much about.
