Not since that little red-headed orphan girl belted out her prediction that the spherical ball of hot gas and magnetic fields at the center of our solar system would appear again the next day have kids and Broadway formed such a beautiful partnership.
No, there’s not another precocious child-centric musical debuting on the Great White Way, but something exciting for dreamers of all ages.
Sunday afternoon, the Dallas Museum of Art will feature Tim Federle as part of its Arts & Letters Live series. The handsome (gay) Broadway dancer-turned-author has written Better Nate Than Never and now Five, Six, Seven, Nate!, two novels for young readers that follow the adventures of Nate Foster, a boy who has dreamt his whole life about being a Broadway star, celebrating inclusivity, diversity and gay themes along the way.
Learn more about Federle’s Broadway career and how he came to write teen novels, then meet him in person for a book signing afterward. Best of all, unlike almost anything on Broadway, this event is free.
Standing ovations will still be honored. And jazz hands will temporarily replace fist bumps and high fives.
Sunday, March 2, 3:00-4:30 p.m.
