Hope you’re thirsty!
Because tonight, Top Shelf Tavern bursts onto the gay bar scene with a concept that’s not just an answer to our drunken prayers, but one that could really catch on. Quickly.
Opening on the Strip, TST is, to our knowledge, the first continuous-open-bar venue in Texas. You read that correctly: Open Bar.
Owner Chad Westing (above) wanted to create a place where the LGBT community could enjoy innovative premium craft cocktails for one all-inclusive price. No well drinks, plastic cups or canned beer here.
In order to get around TABC regulations Top Shelf Tavern is set up as a private club, which means is you pay a $50 fee for a one-day “membership.” And for that fifty bucks, you can enjoy as many cocktails as you like from the time the doors open at 8:00 p.m. to the moment they close at 2:00 a.m.
Clearly they’re hoping for volume, but a $50 tab for an entire night’s drinking sounds like a bargain to us.
Maybe now we’ll finally have money leftover to open a retirement account.
Or start pre-paying for rehab.
