They Sing, They Dance, They Die

Now that we’ve checked the big gay Halloween street party off our to-do list, we can focus on other ways to celebrate the best holiday of the year.

And because putting razor blades in apples is no longer “socially acceptable” according to our therapist, we’ve had to search for new traditions.

One of our favorites is catching “Evil Dead, The Musical” at OhLook Performing Arts Center in Grapevine. This theater troupe always takes over-the-top to new levels and we love the way they push boundaries wherever they can.

If you’re not familiar with the Evil Dead movie series, the basic premise is a creepy cabin in the woods where the dead return to terrorize college students. Except with more ballads and jazz hands than the feature films.

Beware, the first two rows are considered the Blood Splatter Zone, so we recommend steering clear of those. Leave that for the straight guys who don’t care what they look like after the show.

And because all OhLook late-night productions are BYOB, this is a real night-on-the-town bargain.

It’s good, not-so-clean, campy fun.
