In her latest film, Ricki and the Flash, we get a combination of all her strengths.
She sings! She dances! She emotes! She cracks jokes! She’s got a back tattoo!!
Directed by Jonathan Demme (The Silence of the Lambs) from a script by the hilarious and talented Diablo Cody (Juno), the movie stars Streep as a rock singer/guitarist returning home to make things right with her family after years being an absentee mom in favor of stardom.
Ricki and the Flash stars her real-life daughter, Mamie Gummer, and a terrific cast including Kevin Kline, Audra McDonald and Rick Springfield.
In fact, we like her singing in this film so much, we wish Streep would go on tour with this fictional band.
If for no other reason than we’d love a Meryl Streep concert tee.
