We Love Hed

dal-08_24_15Encore! Encore!

There are only four musicals ever written that we will see over and over again, anywhere from high school theaters to the massive stages of Broadway.

And every cruise ship in between.

For anyone keeping score, that very short list includes Cabaret, Chicago and Avenue Q.

And because you’re smart, you’ve figured out #4 based solely on the photo above: Hedwig and the Angry Inch.

We know every line and lyric by heart, but we promise not to sing along from our seat at the Kalita Humphreys Theater when the Uptown Players production opens this week.

Starring Kyle Igneczi as Hedwig and Grace Neeley as Yitzhak, the rock-n-roll tale of the glam rock goddess with the botched sex change is going to make you utter, “Neil Patrick Who?” “Taye What?” while waiting for your post-show beer in the lobby. Guaranteed.

Directed by the multi-talented Jeremy Dumont with music direction by Scott Eckert, this is one show that every gay man is required to see at least once, if not 16 times.

It’s the law.
