Finally, a salon putting the “man” in mani-pedi.
At the recently opened gay-owned Nailed Nail Bar on Oak Lawn Avenue (in the space formerly occupied by Hollywood Nails), they’ve rolled out a new men’s nail services menu that’ll make you grateful you possess cuticles.
The list features four manicures and four pedicures designed exclusively with gay guys in mind.
The manicures range from the quick In & Out to the extensive High Maintenance, which includes nail trimming and shaping, warm cuticle oil soak, grooming, moisturizing, hot towel wrap, hand/arm massage, an exfoliating scrub, paraffin treatment, therapeutic massage oil, and optional buff shine.
Pedicures include the Man Crush and Rough Trade (specially created for the feet of athletes). When they invited us in to check out their services, they automatically signed us up for the Sugar Daddy pedicure. Guess we’re well beyond our Trophy Boy pedicure days. Sigh.
Owner Tyson Thuan Nguyen (pictured left) provided our services and in all honesty, it was one of the best mani-pedis we’ve ever had. He buffed our nails to a see-our-own reflection shine and we almost fell asleep during the hand and foot massage.
Tyson’s goal is to provide a superb spa-like experience, which will be further realized when they complete upcoming renovations.
On our visit, the place was crawling with so many handsome guys it felt like a gay bar that just happens to do nails. Included amenities include two complimentary glasses of wine or champagne, or a single handcrafted martini or other cocktail from their well-stocked bar.
Monday to Wednesday, all services are 20% before 3:00 p.m. Add in those free drinks and you’ve got yourself a real value.
And smooth heels to boot.
