Are you a gambling man? Or a woman who likes to let it ride?
Then you’re probably already well aware of the Choctaw Casino & Resort just a couple hours north on 75 in Durant, Oklahoma. They have a ton of slot machines (including Ellen and Britney!), loads of table games and a high stakes room that has pay-offs as big as the risks.
What you may not realize is that the resort just opened a brand-new spa tower this past summer and it’s a sky-high collection of chic, modern rooms and a first-class spa. No wonder they’ve received the coveted AAA Four-Diamond designation.
Though not as large, we found the spa itself to be comparable to the Ritz-Carlton in Dallas (on a smaller scale, of course). Amenities include a large healing waters tub between separate locker rooms and lounge areas for men and women, each with a clothing optional hot tub, steam room, showers and relaxation area.
Get a massage or other treatment and you have all-day access to the facility, which includes a well-appointed fitness center in case you’re partial to the all-you-can-eat buffet. But we recommend a leisurely dinner at 1832 Steakhouse, a fine dining enclave with excellent steaks and seafood, plus an affordable wine list and stiff martinis.
Stay a long weekend and enjoy a superstar concert (we saw Michael Bolton on our visit!), or hit up the glow-in-the-dark bowling alley and multi-screen movie theater showing all the latest releases.
We’re not big into betting, so we always let our money ride on sure things like booze, burgers and full-body massages.
That way we’re guaranteed to go home a winner.
