His Name Was Lola

dal-01_13_16Get ready for drag taken to the next level.

And then six levels above that for good measure!

Tomorrow night, The Round-Up hosts The Gulf State National Showgirl Pageant, where a National Showgirl At-Large and National Showman At-Large will be crowned.

We love a good drag pageant, but because these are drag showgirls, expect the most glamorous, outrageous and outright BIG costumes (and hair) on the planet. Plus, it’s a nice twist that this pageant gives men out of drag the chance to show their stuff, too. (Because Lord knows we’re not all beautiful as women.)dal-01_13_16(2)In fact, this pageant is so inclusive it welcomes everyone within the LGBTQ community, which means both biological men and FTM can compete in the Showman category, for example.

Thursday’s competition includes interview, talent, evening gown or glitz formal wear, and the ultimate showgirl and showman segments.

Contestants are competing for $1,000 in cash, jewelry and costume prize packages, plus a spot in the national pageant in Columbus, Ohio this June.

To say this will be the fiercest Thursday night in recent memory is a major understatement.

After all, we need to leave the over-the-top stuff for the people on stage.
