Healing Through Music

usa-07_08_16Nearly a month later, it’s still hard to grasp the magnitude of the Pulse nightclub tragedy in Orlando. Tears still stream easily when watching anything related to the events of June 12, whether it’s a news report or a tribute.

Shortly after, “Broadway for Orlando” gathered a massive group of Broadway talent to record “What The World Needs Now Is Love.”

100% of proceeds from that song will be donated to the GBLT Community Center of Central Florida.

This week, GLAAD and Interscope Records joined forces to release “Hands,” a tribute song featuring Mary J Blige, Jason Derulo, Tyler Glenn, Selena Gomez, Halsey, Ty Herndon, Imagine Dragons, Juanes, Adam Lambert, Mary Lambert, Jennifer Lopez, the Trans Chorus of Los Angeles, Kacey Musgraves, MNEK, Alex Newell, P!nk, Prince Royce, Nate Ruess, RuPaul, Troye Sivan, Jussie Smollett, Britney Spears, Gwen Stefani, and Meghan Trainor.

Available exclusively at iTunes, all proceeds will benefit Equality Florida Pulse Victims Fund, the GLBT Community Center of Central Florida, and GLAAD.

It’s always heartwarming when talented people donate their time for a worthwhile cause.

Even though these songs can’t erase what happened, they offer a glimmer of hope for change while instilling a much-needed sense of compassion and unity.

If they inspire just one person to choose love over hate, then they have already succeeded.
