Florence & Her Machine

usa-08_11_16Meryl Streep.

That’s right where we should stop with this story, but we’ll give you just a bit more information because nobody likes looking at a blank web page.

In Florence Foster Jenkins, opening tomorrow, Streep portrays the title character in this bizarre true story about a 1940s heiress who dreams of becoming a great singer. Only problem is, she’s terrible. She just doesn’t know it.

Aided by her actor husband St. Clair Bayfield (Hugh Grant), she makes it all the way to a glorious performance at Carnegie Hall in New York without ever knowing what people truly thought of her vocal prowess.

The movie proves the power of not just a good behind-the-scenes PR machine, but also the undeniable power of positivity. Funny, heartwarming and another tour-de-force for Streep, this is easily the best non-superhero movie of the summer.

Though we do consider Jenkins a Wonder Woman in her own right.
