Brunch Of The Week: A Better Kind Of Poke

Who doesn’t love a good poke on a regular basis?

Same can be said for a good poké. (Ah, what a difference one little accent makes.)

If you’re into the basic idea of brunch, but possibly not the more traditional hollandaise-soaked encounters, we have a suggestion. For a fresh, healthy brunch this Sunday, head to  Malibu Poké.

Don’t worry, you can still get eggs. Flying fish eggs, but still.

If you haven’t yet been to the chic little poké shop in Turtle Creek Village, we consider it one of the top two poké spots in the entire city. Fresh, quality ingredients kick things off properly before you even start building your bowl, which is fun in and of itself.

Walk up to the touch screen and choose a protein (ahi tuna, Atlantic salmon, hamachi, cooked shrimp, tofu or vegan), then go crazy with a multitude of options for sauces and toppings. Get it all on a base of rice, cauliflower, seaweed or kale, or opt for a more traditional Hawaiian style without any of that nonsense.

On Sundays, things get kicked up a notch with the $5 All Day Three Way. (Oh, Malibu Poké, you had us at $5—then completely stole our hearts with “all day three way.”)

For every Abe Lincoln you throw down, you can get one of three types of rosé, including Provence rosé on draft, a Spanish sparkling rosé cava, and a glorious frosé made with rosé, pinot noir, white peach purée, cranberry bitters and housemade lime-infused simple syrup.

See, it really sounds like brunch now, doesn’t it?
