Over the years, we’ve learned many foreign languages: French. German. Spanish.
But the only one that stuck is Spanish—Spanish words for food, that is.
So it’s no wonder we felt right at home at TacoLingo where they speak nothing but the language of Tex-Mex love. This recent addition to The Union near Victory Park comes from Rich Hicks, the mastermind behind ahead-of-the-curve taco joint Tin Star back in the day, and more recently, Pie Tap Pizza Workshop + Bar, another of our all-time-favorite brunch spots.
Many things will bring flashbacks to Tin Star fans, whether it’s the demi-glace potatoes or the famous cheeseburger tacos. But there are plenty of new items to love on the brunch menu, too.
Kick things off with a $3 brunch cocktail, with choices of frosé, Bloody Mary or mimosa to enjoy on the gorgeous courtyard patio or in the spacious two-story dining room.
Among the many excellent food offerings during brunch, can’t miss items include the chicken and waffles taco (above right) featuring fried chicken and a sunnyside egg, the healthier taco blanco (center) with egg whites and black beans and the hangover taco (left), a brunchified version of that famous cheeseburger taco with Wagyu beef, bacon, lettuce, tomato, pickle, fancy sauce and a sunnyside egg.
If you’re less about handheld brunch dishes, never fear, there’s a full line-up of full-size brunch entrées ranging from a perfectly spiced huevos rancheros platter to chilaquiles loaded with chicken.
