That’s how many of the coveted awards the Broadway hit Kinky Boots accumulated during its New York debut.
And now our dear friends over at Uptown Players are putting their own spin on the story of Charlie Price, a shoe factory owner who turns to making sexy, high-heel boots to save the family business with the help of a drag queen named Lola.
Uber-talented Lee Walter takes on the flashy Lola role and we know it’s going to be another superstar turn from the multi-skilled actor.
The production is led by director John de Los Santos, music director Vonda K. Bowling, and choreographers John de Los Santos and Evor Wright. Cyndi Lauper wrote the music and Harvey Fierstein crafted the story, so if you’ve yet to see this feel-great musical, you can clearly see the immense amount of talent behind it.
