Resolution, Re-Election & Relocation.

2023 was a rough ride, but let us reflect on these concerns for 2024.

Resolution.  We have survived another year and, more importantly, another New Year’s Eve.  The night when all hell seems to break loose and thousands of seemingly moral people lose all control of sobriety.  After which, in an attitude of false repentance, many make firm resolutions to change their lives in the coming year.  Bull Dookey!  I resolve EVERY DAY to be a better Christian than the rest of you, so don’t even try to one-up me at this time of year.  And for those of you resolving to lose weight, I’m carrying scales in my purse at all times…………… and some Ozempic pens.

Re-Election.  As we begin this new year, we need to be on our knees for SO many reasons.  Foremost in my mind is the fact that this is an election year, and we are going to be subject to all manner of propaganda, promotion and proselytizing meant to try our patience.  We are faced with the grim responsibility of electing the next President of this great nation.  A grave task, to be sure, but made all the more so in 2024 as we consider our options.  I am fully aware that the Lord can move in mighty ways between now and November, but my faith is weak as I write this.  Will we usher in the next four years with a renewed prayer for the Washington, D.C. operators of Life Alert, or will we find ourselves, like Mary and Joseph, fleeing to another land because of the rule of a returning unstable Pharoah?  Let us pray that the Almighty reveals some currently unknown political savior between now and then.  Until then, let us be bidin’ our time in the hopes that victory will trump defeat.  And if you’re not concerned about this, YOU’RE the secondary reason we all need to be in prayer!

Relocation.  Among my prayers for election year wisdom is an exhortation for geographical guidance.  Do I remain steadfast in my place here in The Lone Star State, where the governor really doesn’t stand for anything, or do I pick up my bed and walk to another principality for voting status?  I can’t imagine living in Colorado with legalized marijuana and a sodomite Governor, but aside from harboring that satanic author, Stephen King, I’ve heard Maine is lovely.  Thoughts?
