Christian uses of F words are with us this week.
Four. As is now evident, we have all made it through the pronouncements of false prophets who believed that life as we know it would be eclipsed last week. I was lucky enough to live in an area where the Lord gave us full totality in view. Many were truly blessed at the mighty works of His hands. Four minutes of my entire community stopping to join with one another in this historic moment was pure Eden. Four minutes where I let go of my disdain for anyone non-Babatist. Four minutes where all politics were ignored. Four minutes where we were all as one in Spirit. And then……back to the same old burdens. The Scriptures tell us that when our Lord was crucified, the skies went dark at noon. Who knew there was a path of totality right across Golgotha? Now we’ll just have to wait for the next one. Unless your idea of a totaled eclipse is a wrecked Mitsubishi!
Ford. I pride myself in remembering those who have passed on to the next life as fondly as I can. Even those who are of different faiths than me. But I have to draw a line somewhere. When I heard that OJ was gone, I initially thought this was a nationwide juice shortage due to poor orange grove crops. By the time I was more intellectually informed and realized this was the passing of Mr. Simpson (no “Brother” moniker here!), I became filled with conflicting emotions. A child of God has left this life. Yes, Jesus may love him, but I think he was a murderer. My initial thought was an image of a white Ford Bronco ascending to the heavens. But then I realized that was an unlikely direction. Even if heaven was reached, I feel Sister Nicole and Brother Ron would have been on hand to throw that jeep in reverse! OJ may have gotten out of this world an “innocent” man, but Lucifer himself will keep him busy in an eternity of penance! Amen?
Fortitude. I am no legal scholar by any stretch of the imagination. I have served jury duty in a local court on a traffic case, but that’s about it. I can’t imagine being called in for jury duty in a case as public as the one starting in New York. The fortitude that would take! My understanding is that a jury member must be able to be unbiased as they hear evidence against the accused presented. Whosoever shall be THAT? Let us pray that judicial wisdom prevails and that the truth, in this case, will NOT set one free. It will be a Stormy trial as fearful as Daniel’s lion’s den but may the judge Don their robe and ensure that justice will Trump evil. Glory!
