Workplace Woes & Couch Potatoes

Hey, work warriors! Time to tackle some workplace and home life chaos.

Sassy, my boss keeps giving me more work without extra pay. What should I do?

Darling, it’s time to stand up for yourself. Schedule a meeting with your boss and say, “I’ve noticed my workload has increased significantly. Can we discuss a possible raise or promotion to reflect these additional responsibilities?” If they balk, calmly outline your contributions and the value you bring to the team. If they still refuse, it’s time to start looking for a new job. You deserve to be compensated fairly for your hard work. Don’t let them exploit you. Meanwhile, start documenting everything. When you eventually hand in your notice, they’ll realize too late that you were worth every penny they didn’t pay you.

Dear Sassy, my partner never wants to go out anymore. How do I get them off the couch?

Sweetheart, it’s time to shake things up. Plan an activity they can’t resist and say, “I’ve got tickets to this amazing event, and I want you to come with me.” If they still resist, have a heart-to-heart: “I miss our time together outside the house. Can we make an effort to go out more?” Suggest a compromise: one night out for every two nights in. If they still prefer the couch, start going out without them. Sometimes a little FOMO (fear of missing out) is the best motivator. If nothing changes, it’s time to reevaluate if you’re okay with a permanent couch potato or if you need a partner who matches your energy.

Sassy, I’m stuck in a dead-end job and don’t know what to do. Help!

First, breathe, darling. You’re not alone in the dead-end job club. Start by updating your resume and LinkedIn profile. Network like your fabulous life depends on it because it does. Reach out to old colleagues, attend industry events, and let people know you’re on the market. Meanwhile, start looking for courses or certifications that can boost your skills and make you more marketable. If you’re unsure of what direction to take, consider a career coach. Sometimes an outside perspective can open doors you didn’t even know existed. And while you’re job hunting, don’t slack at your current gig – you never know when a new opportunity might arise right where you are.

Keep fighting the good fight, and stay fabulous!
