Why be one of the millions celebrating Dry January when you could be tossing back a few tequila shots?
Truth be told, we’re part of that horde of people playing sober for a few weeks, but that might change if we see even a glimpse of Inauguration Day out of the corner of our eye.
So, we’re stocking up the bar just in case our willpower fails next Monday.
One tipple we’re sure to have is YaVe Reposaod Tequila. The name’s a phonetic play on the Spanish word for key (llave) and there’s even a little gold key embedded into the bottle. The company generously sent us a bottle over the holidays and we tried it neat and on the rocks, but enjoyed it most in cocktails.
YaVe Reposado Tequila ages for 8 months in American oak barrels for a complex, layered flavor that elevates anything you put it into.
Try it in a classic margarita made with two parts YaVe Reposado Tequila, two parts lime juice and one part Cointreau, shaken hard and served on the rocks.
But we also tried it as a Chocolate Negroni (recipe at the end of the story) and thoroughly enjoyed the tequila twist compared to the usual gin. We love chocolate and we adore Negronis, so trying this cocktail made perfect sense.
Valentine’s Day’s coming up, so it would be perfect for Cupid’s Little Season of Chocolate.
Or staying out of the frigid cold this weekend.
Or all of the above.
