RSVP Now: The Wedding Banquet Is Bringing Queer Chaos & Cultural Clashes to Dallas

Ready for a night of fake vows, real feelings and one grandma who is not here for your secrets? Then save the date, darling—The Wedding Banquet is getting an advance screening in Dallas, and you (plus a lucky guest) are officially invited.

This isn’t just another rom-com. It’s a whip-smart reimagining of Ang Lee’s 1993 classic, directed by Andrew Ahn (Fire Island) and co-written with James Schamus. Think: queer love triangle, cross-cultural family expectations, and enough wedding drama to make your cousin’s open-bar reception look tame. Oh, and did we mention the cast? Bowen Yang, Lily Gladstone, Kelly Marie Tran, Han Gi-chan, Joan Chen, and Youn Yuh-jung—basically a who’s who of award winners and scene-stealers.

Here’s the setup: Angela and her partner, Lee, are trying to afford another round of IVF. Their friend Min—closeted, loaded and facing a visa expiration—offers to fund it all…if Angela marries him instead. What’s meant to be a quiet little paperwork exchange turns into a full-on, no-expense-spared wedding extravaganza when Min’s grandmother shows up from Korea and insists on doing things the “right” way. Cue the lion dancers, the awkward family toasts and some very unexpected truths.

The sneak peek screening all goes down Tuesday, April 15, three days before hitting theatres nationwide. Entry is free, but RSVP is required—and seats are first-come, first-served. Don’t wait. This is one of those screenings that’s going to be that girl.
