As Pride Month chugs along, we continue to be amazed at all the creativity in our community.
Today, a new animated feature debuts on-demand (Amazon, iTunes, Google, and Dish) and it’s hilarious.
Maxxie LaWow: Drag Super-Shero, billed as the world’s first animated feature film centered on a drag queen superhero, showcases the talent of creator and director Anthony Hand.

The musical adventure centers around a barista named Simon who turns into drag superhero Maxxie LaWow after donning a magical wig. Soon, she gets thrust into a world jeopardized by the plots of an evil drag queen (and no, it’s not Mistress Isabelle Brooks).
The super-stylized feature-length film stars the voices of newcomer Grant Hodges as Maxxie and Terren Wooten Clark as the evil queen, Dyna Bolical. Voice cameos come courtesy of legendary RuPaul’s Drag Race queens Jinkx Monsoon, BenDeLaCrème, Monét X Change and Rosé.
It’s endearingly charming and more hilarious than we could have ever hoped.
