Of all the hotel brands with a number in their name, we love Four Seasons best of all.
Truthfully, we’d rather not travel at all than stay in a Motel 6 or Super 8.
But that’s our first-world problems revealing a couple of many travel biases.
It’s simply that Four Seasons does things so well, we have become so spoiled whenever we are invited to stay at one.
Most recently, we returned to Four Seasons Hotel Houston after a multi-year hiatus and it was every bit as remarkable as we remember it.
What Downtown Houston lacks in beaches, mountains and picturesque sunsets, the Four Seasons makes up for in service.
Not to mention the spa, pool and destination-worthy dining options.
During our weekend stay last month, we had the privilege of dining at Bayou & Bottle and Chef Richard Sandoval’s Toro Toro. Both were delightful experiences with wonderful food and beverages, each worth staying in at the hotel in the evenings rather than venturing out.
However, it was our late-night visit to Bandista that truly has us wanting to head back to H-Town for a cocktail, whether we’re staying at the Four Seasons Hotel Houston or not. Reserve your seats in advance and you’ll be escorted to the speakeasy’s secret location. All we can tell you is there’s a secret code and hidden room-behind-a-bookcase involved.
We sat at the bar, which is our favorite perch at a place like this because we can really chat with the bartenders. Though you’ll find a well-appointed list of wildly inventive craft cocktails, we encourage you for at least one round to let the bartender interview you and create something specific just for you.
Our bartenders went crazy and made things even they’d never thought of before and it was a total joy. Luckily, we only had to stagger to the elevator and up to our suite for a long sleep into late morning.
On the final morning of our stay, it was time for relaxing in the hot tub and pool before the sun started beating down, followed by a rejuvenating facial in the spa. The men’s locker room features a spacious steam room and multi-jet showers, too, for an added few moments of zen before heading to the airport.
We’re excited to journey back south for a repeat stay at the Four Seasons Hotel Houston, or at the very least, pop by Bandista for a nightcap.
