Mr. Goodwick. Yes, that is his real name, and yes, he absolutely lives up to it. This 4-year-old, 71-pound heartthrob is part dashing scholar, part snuggle king and part sitcom sidekick. With a sleek black coat, elegant white accents and one ear up while the other takes a personal day, he’s serving you “distinguished but approachable” on a silver platter.
He’s not one for drama or high-maintenance demands. Mr. Goodwick is a vibe. He likes the simple things: leaning in like a 71-pound lapdog, finding that perfect patch of sun for a nap and keeping tabs on his favorite humans from exactly two inches away.
And don’t be fooled by his calm presence. This guy’s got wit. He’ll “assist” with your chores, “approve” your emails with a paw slap and give strong opinions during movie night. (He’s team subtitles, obviously.)
Right now, he’s recovering from a little post-surgery swelling, which is where the Foster-to-Adopt program comes in. You give him a comfy place to heal, he gives you constant companionship and, once he’s medically cleared, you can make things official. It’s a soft launch for forever love.
You can meet Mr. Goodwick at the SPCA of Texas Dallas Animal Care Center (2400 Lone Star Drive, 75212), open every day from noon to 5 p.m. His adoption fee is just $75, but honestly, that’s a steal for a live-in comedian with perfect manners.
