Still We Rise: Congresswomen Crockett & Johnson Join the 44th Annual Black Tie Dinner

It’s that time again, Dallas. Tuxes are being pressed, tables are selling out, and the city’s LGBTQ+ community is gearing up for the grand dame of all galas: the 44th Annual Black Tie Dinner, happening November 8 at the Sheraton Dallas Hotel.

And this year’s lineup is giving power, pride and politics.

Two of Texas’ fiercest voices, Congresswoman Jasmine Crockett and Congresswoman Julie Johnson, are joining as featured speakers. Crockett, known for her unapologetic authenticity and fierce advocacy, and Johnson, who made history as the first openly gay member of Congress from Texas (and the South!), are sure to bring both gravitas and a little grit to the evening’s message of resilience.

The theme, “Still We Rise, feels spot-on for a year that has tested the strength of our community but also reminded us of our power when we show up in heels, boots or sensible flats.

And let’s talk about the rest of the lineup. The night’s honorees and guests include:

  • Jim Obergefell, the man behind Obergefell v. Hodges, receiving the Equality Award
  • Jaymes Black, CEO of The Trevor Project, receiving the Kuchling Humanitarian Award
  • Carl Nassib, the NFL’s first openly gay active player, delivering featured remarks
  • Hayley Orrantia, our hometown “Girl Next Door” from The Goldbergs, performing live
  • Kelly Robinson, President of the Human Rights Campaign Foundation

With over 2,000 guests and proceeds benefiting up to 20 local LGBTQ+ nonprofits, the Black Tie Dinner remains not just a party but a statement of our community’s dedication to the organizations that support it.
