A few weeks ago we received a press release email with the subject line: “Controversial Richard III Coming to the Bath House.”
Controversy at a bath house?
Color us even more intrigued!
Of course, the Bath House in question is the wonderful art deco Bath House Cultural Center at White Rock Lake.
As for the “controversial” aspect of Shakespeare’s Richard III, we weren’t able to get much information about who’s already finding it controversial or if that’s just a tactic to get butts in seats, but…
Color us intrigued once again!
What we did learn, however, is that the casting is gender neutral and we’re promised that traditional casting conventions will be ignored.
Use that information how you will, but we’re excited to support L.I.P. Service and Auriga Productions and anyone brave enough to keep local theater alive.
