Travel Tuesday: Sail Out Of Galveston On A New-to-Texas Ship

This week, Galveston welcomes a new cruise line to its port.

After sailing from Miami to Caribbean destinations for the past few years, MSC Seascape officially moves to its new Texas home this week. This gives you more choices than ever for a cruise holiday that’s only a short flight or short-enough drive away.

We had the privilege of sailing on Seascape two weeks ago so we could check out the ship before her Lone Star State debut. And it’s a great ship, indeed.

Not too big, not too small, it’s a Goldilocks-worthy vessel that’s just right.

Now that Seascape has transitioned to Galveston, passengers can enjoy 7-night Western Caribbean cruises for as little as $349 per person, depending on what sales they have going on.

Starting at $741 per person, you can enjoy a premium drink package that gets you unlimited cocktails, beer, wine, specialty coffees and more (up to $16 per drink), as well as Wi-Fi for two devices to stay connected.

(Yes, Grindr works on the ship’s WiFi, in case you’re wondering.)

That breaks down to about $106 per night per person, which combined with complimentary food, entertainment and other amenities, makes for a very affordable week away.

Of course, you can really splurge for everything from balcony staterooms and suites to the super-exclusive Yacht Club experience, which affords you all of the above, plus your own dedicated butler and venues that only Yacht Club guests can access.

Other upgrades include dining at specialty restaurants (our fave was Kaito Teppanyaki), massages and other spa treatments, and adrenaline-pumping rides on the Robotron.

During our voyage, we were pleased to meet several other LGBTQ passengers and crew members. You’ll even find LGBTQ meetups on board to make it easier to find fellow queer passengers, whether you’re looking for a love connection or a new group of friends to drink with.

This was our third MSC Cruises vacation and we’re loving the brand more and more with each sailing.

Whether you’re a regular cruiser or you’ve never been, we highly recommend giving MSC a try. So, grab a group of your best travel companions and head to Latin America for some fun in the sun.

And even more fun when you get back to your stateroom and set your status to Do Not Disturb.
