SPCA Pet of the Week: Zane Is Your New Eyeliner-Ready Best Buddy

Meet Zane, the three-year-old, 54-pound Shepherd mix who walks around looking like he woke up with perfect eyeliner and zero effort. With his soft tan and white coat, bright brown eyes and adorable white socks, he is basically the dog version of effortless good looks. One glimpse of that tongue-out grin and you will understand why this guy leaves people smitten.

Zane has a sweet, loyal, happy-go-lucky vibe that just feels good to be around. His floppy ears have their own ideas, his tail moves like it has its own power source and his whole presence says, “Let’s enjoy life together.” He is playful without being chaotic, energetic without being overwhelming and charming without even trying.

He can be a tiny bit shy at first, but that fades quickly. Give him a moment to settle, and he leans right into your legs as if you have been best friends since the school cafeteria days. He loves people, loves attention and is thrilled to be part of anything you are doing. Walks, couch time, errands, backyard hangs, you name it, he is in.

Zane is a dream on the leash. No dragging, no zigzagging, no sprinting to the horizon. He is a stroll-and-smile kind of guy who enjoys soaking up the sunshine and keeping pace with you.

If your home has room for charm, humor and steady affection, Zane is ready. He is low-maintenance, high-love and always down for a head rub or a good squeaky toy moment.

Zane is one of the SPCA of Texas Longtime Lovables, which means he has been in the shelter for more than 60 days. His adoption fee is zero. You can meet him any day between noon and 6 p.m. at the SPCA of Texas Dallas Animal Care Center, 2400 Lone Star Drive, 75212. He is neutered, microchipped and current on vaccinations.

And while you are there, mark your calendar for the SPCA of Texas LGBTQ+ Task Force holiday event. They are hosting Paws and Claus, a Santa photo night on Tuesday, December 2, 2025, from 5 to 7 p.m., with a suggested donation of $25. RSVP here (required). It’s a fun, festive way to support the animals and get a great holiday photo with your pets.
