SPCA Pet of the Week: Kid Is Gentle Love That Still Believes

This SPCA Pet of the Week has been called a lot of things in his life, but the name that fits best is Kid. No matter where he has been or what he has lost, his heart is still open, hopeful and ready to love.

Kid is a beautiful silver and white mixed breed with soft, floppy ears that seem permanently tuned to one question: is this my forever family? At nearly eight years old and 52 pounds, he is a large, gentle soul who does not ask for much. A warm place to rest. A kind hand on his belly. Someone who will finally choose him and mean it.

There is something especially moving about the way Kid loves. He melts into belly rubs. He leans in quietly when you sit beside him, grateful but never demanding. He does not clamor for attention. He cherishes it. His eyes tell a story of patience, loyalty and a dog who still believes the best chapter of his life is ahead.

Kid is friendly, affectionate and wonderfully calm. He fits into life with ease. Happy to play, content to cuddle, and always ready to simply be there. He is past the chaos of puppyhood and fully settled into the beauty of companionship. Long walks. Quiet evenings. Shared moments on the couch. This is where Kid shines.

Right now, Kid is in foster care. Safe, loved and still waiting. Waiting for the person who will look past the number of years and straight into his enormous heart. Waiting for the home where he will not be a stop along the way, but the destination.

Kid is one of the SPCA of Texas Longtime Lovables, which means his adoption fee is zero. Love like his does not come with a price tag. Because he is currently in foster care, visit spca.org to make an appointment to meet him at the SPCA of Texas Dallas Animal Care Center, 2400 Lone Star Drive, Dallas, 75212. The center is open daily from noon to 6 p.m. Kid is neutered, microchipped and up to date on all vaccinations.

If you have ever wished for a dog who will love you with everything he has, who will be endlessly loyal and quietly grateful, Kid is waiting.
