Visiting an alternate reality has more appeal than ever.
The holidays have come and gone, the world continues to unravel and the daily news cycle depresses us if we even remotely pay attention.
So, we happily take trips to other worlds. An edible and a few episodes of The Midnight Gospel and we’re good to go for several hours.

But nothing can quite compare to a stroll through the Great Trinity Forest and the immersive light-and-sound experience, Astra Lumina. It’s back for a second year and if they offered a season pass we’d be first in line every evening.
Bundle up, pop by the bar for a boozy (or alcohol-free) hot cocoa, then head out on a celestial adventure. Wander through nine thematic areas at your own pace (an hour’s a good amount of time to set aside.)
We took an edible and an Uber, which allowed us to roam completely carefree and experience the lights and music in a way that would make Cheech and Chong eternally jealous.
Between the nature sounds (both real and piped in through the speakers), ethereal music, gentle wind blowing through the trees and the mesmerizing lights at each stop, Astra Lumina calms our soul and opens up a portal to the most creative corners of our imagination.
We took three friends with us right before the New Year and they loved the experience as much as we did in 2024 during our first visit.
The limited-time exhibition only has tickets available through the end of January on the website. However, word in the woods indicates it might be here at least through March. We couldn’t get any official confirmation, so our recommendation is to go now while you can.
And if the run’s extended, book a return trip.
Because frequent flyer miles to a parallel universe can earn you lots of cerebral perks.
