Well, it was only a matter of time before a major corporation descended upon our beloved Oak Lawn neighborhood.
Yet here we are.
Hot off its internet-breaking McNugget Caviar promotion back in February, the McDonald’s fast food chain quietly began updating the vacant Hamburger Mary’s space for a limited-time pop-up drag restaurant called, appropriately enough, Hamburglar Mary’s.
Doors open tonight at 6:00 p.m. and trust us, it’s worth getting on the list.

The first 100 people to RSVP for tonight’s unannounced launch will each receive a complimentary Big Arch burger, a large order of McDonald’s famous french fries, one signature cocktail and a miniature McFlurry Pride dessert with rainbow sprinkles served in a martini glass.
Plus, if you show your McDonald’s app to the server, you’ll score an additional specialty beverage.
And for the love of sweet, sweet Grimace, these cocktails are Instagrammable doozies.
Choose from a limited beverage menu of custom Mickey D’s-inspired creations by top neighborhood bartenders representing Alexandre’s, The Round-Up Saloon & Dance Hall, Sue Ellen’s and Woody’s.

Options include the Pickle Mactini, made with Tito’s Handmade Vodka, pickle juice and a rim of Big Mac sauce. The tiki-inspired McMai Tai starts with Sailor Jerry Spiced Rum, Blue Curaçao, orgeat and a dollop of Sweet N Sour McNugget dipping sauce. Or try the Happy Mealgarita, featuring LALO Tequila, fresh lime juice, Hi-C Orange drink and a salted rim, served in a keepsake Happy Meal glass with a collectible Cassie Nova toy on the side.
The sole non-alcoholic option, the Mayor McSober, takes a cue from the dirty soda trend to combine fizzy Sprite with a creamy Shamrock Shake.
Each night will feature two McDonald’s-inspired drag performances at 7:00 and 9:00 p.m. The drag shenanigans kick off with Liquor Mini returning to the former Hamburger Mary’s stage alongside her Fly Queens Drag Brunch cast, rebranded as the Fry Queens, tonight and tomorrow night.
Thursday and Friday will see local Drag Race favorites Shangela, Alyssa Edwards, Kennedy Davenport and Asia O’Hara uniting onstage as the Quarter Pound Hers with Cheese.
For now, the Hamburglar Mary’s pop-up is slated to run Wednesday through Saturday every week through April 25, but McDonald’s execs hint that if it proves popular, the takeover could be extended.
That depends entirely on you! So, to be among the first to attend tonight’s grand opening, RSVP here. Or for one of the remaining dates, purchase $50 tickets here. Ticketed nights include the drag performance, food and one specialty cocktail, with additional beverages available for purchase.)
We’re lovin’ it!
