After all the shenanigans at Dallas Pride this weekend, you’ll certainly need a vacation to recover.
If you love wine, we have the perfect post-Pride party for you.
Best of all, you won’t have to book an expensive last-minute flight. Instead, for less than two tanks of gas round-trip, you can head to the Texas Hill Country Wineries. Enjoy a weekend of tastings, food and live music during Barrels & Bites 2026, taking place Friday, June 12 to Sunday, June 14.
For $175 per person (or $300 per couple), you can visit up to four wineries per day from a list of more than 20 wineries. Each participating winery will offer a tasting paired with small sweet and/or savory bites.
Your ticket also gets you access to the Grand Tasting event at Ron Yates. During this event, each winery will pour a single wine, whether it’s their best seller, personal favorite or the most award-winning option in their portfolio.
The weekend’s participating wineries span a good portion of the Hill Country, with the highest concentration along U.S. Route 290 between Hye and Johson City.
So, consider making Johnson City your overnight home base and sleep at a winery. (And not in the usual, Sleeping Because You Drank Too Much Wine and Passed Out at the Table Kind of Sleeping at a Winery Experience.)

That’s right, 12 Fires Winery & Vineyard features a glamping experience with five pet-friendly luxury glamping tents, each with a queen-sized bed, full bathroom, kitchenette, and most importantly, air-conditioning.
Glapming rates start at only $115 per night (so consider a rustic-adjacent getaway any time this summer or fall, in case you can’t make the Barrel & Bites weekend).
You’ll be close to all the outdoor adventures offered near Johnson City, including Pedernales Falls State Park, or venture off to Fredericksburg for a day of shopping and hiking at Enchanted Rock State Natural Area, as well as visit Barrel & Bites participating wineries along the way.

Each night, catch sunset before getting lost in the glorious, star-filled night sky. In fact, multiple International Dark Sky Parks can be found nearby for stargazing unlike anything you’ve ever seen before.
This region of Texas has such a unique beauty about it.
Wine merely enhances the splendor.
