Why Does The Kalita Humphreys Theater Smell Like Asparagus?

A group of diverse performers posing in a comedic manner, holding signs with messages about needing to pee. The scene includes a police officer, various characters in costumes, and props like a plunger and teddy bear.

That’s the question everyone will be asking come July 10.

On that date, Uptown Players debuts the three-time Tony Award-winning musical, Urinetown, and it promises to be the Dallas theater company’s top show about #1.

Nothing’s off-limits with this musical satire in which restrooms are controlled by an evil corporation and citizens must pay to use public facilities (something likely coming to our country sooner than later).

In our current era of disfunction and corruption, Urinetown is Political with a Capital Pee.

If it’s not already on your radar, then we’re thrilled to be the ones to leak the announcment so it doesn’t whizz past your inbox.

We know that would very likely piss you off.

Directed by Penny Ayn Maas with music direction by Vonda K. Bowling and choreography by Gabriela Ayala Yarbrough, the hilarious musical created by Mark Hollman and Greg Kotis. Several of Uptown Players’ most beloved performers fill the cast of this bladder-busting comedy.

Tickets range from $41-$66, so even if you only have an inkling for a tinkling, these prices should get your juices flowing.

Three individuals posing on a white background: one wearing a red bandana and holding a megaphone, another in suspenders with a plunger, and a police officer in a uniform.

Opening night’s less than two weeks away, which menas you’ve gotta go, gotta go, gotta go right now to get tickets!

Flush with excitement yet?

Then see a man about a horse and save the date to visit Urinetown this July.

After all, the success of local theater completely Depends on you.
