SPCA Pet of the Week: Teddy Is 122 Pounds of Pure Sweetheart

Some dogs walk into a room and immediately take over. Teddy does the opposite. He settles in quietly, flashes that tongue-out smile and somehow ends up winning everyone over anyway.

At seven years old and 122 pounds, Teddy is a true gentle giant. With his gray muzzle, kind eyes and easygoing personality, he has the look of a dog who has life figured out. And honestly, he kind of does.

Teddy is all about the simple pleasures. A comfortable bed. A leisurely walk. A good treat. A favorite person nearby. He has officially retired from the chaos of puppyhood and embraced a lifestyle that feels refreshingly relatable. Give him a cozy place to relax and someone to spend time with, and he is perfectly content.

One of Teddy’s favorite activities is simply being close to his people. Whether you’re working from home, catching up on your favorite shows or spending a quiet evening on the couch, Teddy is happy to be part of the routine. He brings a calm, steady presence that makes a house feel more like home.

And then there’s that smile.

Teddy’s signature tongue-out grin has a way of turning bad days around. It is impossible not to smile back. He has the kind of face that makes strangers stop and say hello, and the kind of personality that makes them wish they could take him home.

As a Senior Sweetheart, Teddy’s adoption fee is free. Like many older dogs, he understands what matters most: good company, a little comfort, and people who love him for exactly who he is.

Teddy has plenty of love left to give and is ready to share it with the right person.

You can meet him any day from noon to 6 p.m. at the SPCA of Texas Jan Rees-Jones Animal Care Center, 2400 Lone Star Drive, Dallas, 75212. He is neutered, microchipped, and up to date on his vaccinations.

If you’ve been looking for a loyal companion with a big heart and an even bigger presence, Teddy is ready to make himself at home.
